Hey everyone, I have been on here a while but never really posted pics of my car. I am doing a 3800sc swap with a 5 speed getrag tranny(same setup as Raven.) We used his idea of the subframe, but altered it a little. All the work was done by John Edwards, owner of Dream Machines Ltd. The address is 126 Select Ave. Unit 5. Toronto M1V 3Y6. Phone number 416-754-0980. As you can see by the pics (more evident when seen in person though) his work is 2nd to none, I highly recomend him. He will do pretty much any fabrication or restoration work that you need done, very professional to deal with aswell.
On with the pics.
Engine and tranny waiting to be installed.
New subframe.
Rear Tranny mount.
Front engine mount bracket, notice the nylon insert used, this is actually stronger and will transmit more power to the ground than eurathane mounts.
Rear engine mount bracket.
Subframe with mounts attached.
Subframe with engine installed.
Tranny mounts.
Engine mounts.
And finally a few pics of the engine itself and the car as it is right now.
wow looks really good so far, cant wait to c it finished. Very clean swap, very impressed. Keep us updated with pics of your progress as well as some times when its finished
Darren,
I know the fenders aren't on there yet, but I'm worried about hood clearance. have you at least test fit it to make sure all is well?
I'll take a look at it on Sunday.

Lots of room.
Darren: Looks really nice bud. Did you guys test the oil filter yet or remote oil filter adapter? I know we had fun trying to fit James and ours was out 2 inches more than that frame, so it looks from the angels in the pictures that it will hit either way. Let me know how you make out with that please. Very nice fab work by the way the guys are doing a great job.

We have not test fit the hood yet, we are putting the fenders and hood on this sunday. I was talking to John about this, if it doesnt fit, we are going to customize my hood to fit over it. I hope it isnt a problem, but if it is, we fix it!
Brad, I havent got the oil filter adapter yet, I will be ordering that soon, once I get the car back to my place, I will let you know how it goes. Oh, and you should have a couple wiring harnesses showing up at your door sometime next month!
Ruen, it doesnt run yet, just the fab work to fit the engine in is done. The car will hit the streets in early spring. I want to drive it atleast a month before I take it to the track. I also want to hit the track atleast 3 times before the JCO bash in early June, so therefore it should be on the roads mid april hopefully.
As for cost, I am doing things in installements so I dont have to pay everything at once! The fab work was done this month, the wiring next month etc etc etc...
Thanx for the nice comments guys, I will keep you updated.
Very impressive, I will definitely be following the progress of this project. All of the fab work looks nice and clean, good job.
If you need a hood... I might suggest the Ramair hood... it seems to be raised a little more in the rear... should fit perfect and look sick! Also you never said how much a setup like that runs?
that is how it shoulda come form the factory.
Simply amazing look like this guy realy work well cause it seem perfect, the only thing you might want to keep your money for is some bigger tire
good job!
Depending on what you do! Depending on what year your car is! Auto or standard! It all makes a difference. The last one we just did ran him almost 17000.00 because he went for every thing. The car works really well and he is happy with it. Some might get to go for 11 or 12. Hard to say. Hope this helps.
I hate to see good suspension work go unnoticed
Thats some nice work and most will never know what went into it when they see the car.

I am all that is man
work like this makes me proud to be an american. <sniff, sniff> its gorgeous.
17000? does that include labor? Please say it does, I don't see how it could cost that much money to buy a motor from the junkyard, weld in new mount, and run even TEC2, don't see it possible....
For 17K I could have my car tube framed, rwd, and running 8s.
But I already know a guy with a cavy doing just that.
I am all that is man
Wow 17K, what i could do with that. But any ways good luck.
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
Pics look good. Now just get that PCM down to us so you can fire her up.
Just from the pics I can see two things that might be a problem...
1) like Brad said you may have some issues with clearance for the oil filter or oil filter relocation kit but I'm sure that you can figure something out.
2) I noticed that you don't have the air condition compressor installed or an A/C delete pulley. In order to run the accessory belt you will have to have a pulley down there for the belt to route properly. This has to be done as you can't just use a shorter belt. With mine the A/C delete pulley was built right into the mount but from your pics I don't see how this is possible.
Can't wait to hook up with you at the JCO bash next summer, Brad and I are already making the plans to attened. Good luck with the rest of the swap.
As far as everyone saying that $17,000 is too much go ahead and price up everything for this swap. The price quoted above was a customer coming into the shop with NOTHING but a 98 Z24. It included all parts including engine, tranny, custom harness and PCM, custom subframe and mounts, custom aluminum flywheel, stage 4 clutch, SLP ceramic coated headers, 3.4" SC pulley, blah blah blah. It included all labour and taxes as well, basicly what it costs for you to be on the road if you have nothing to start with.
