what do you think of dual exhausts vs. single?

i really like the look of the rksport dual exhaust system..
what do you think of that? i have a 96 cavy..
i'm not real knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff so any info is greatly appreciated!!

they look nicer but some people say ...i wouldn't put a dual on my car unless it was a real dual but do w/e u like becuase thats how u want it to be hp wise there the same

one header, one exhaust in my opinion.
but I've seen some nice looking ones as well.

how could you do more then one header with out a whole engine swap for a 6 cylinder?

also, a dual exhaust will just be louder, no performance difference. But w/e you think looks the best. i have the rksport single on my car.

yeah, performance isn't really TOO important to me...
i mostly like it because of the look.
i just haven't seen many cavy's with dual...at least around my area.
thanks for the info..i just wanted to know if there one was better than the other.

I wanted duals too so I did the Crossflow Camaro-style muffler with only one inlet but dual exits. Like this:

As for sound it is about the same volume, but it sounds a LOT deeper and smoother than my old muffler (A'pexi N1) and is (to me) the BEST sounding cavalier I have ever heard. IMHO

*btw It is a Dynomax Ultraflo Stainless Steel Camaro muffler with Magnaflow tips.

I have the RK Duals, OBX header, and high flow cat. -------Can you say RASPY!!------
But seeing as your not goin for performance, go with the RK Duals cuz they look Haaawwt as h***

u could do it, if u knew how to weld. and your pipe sizes would have to be like, at max 1.5 inch. not sure about on cavs but your might need to wire up another O2 sensor somehow.

Has anyone heard the dual exhaust from rksport? How does it sound?

MyZcar----- did u run 15.2 only with the mods u have listed in your cars profile? cuz thats pretty good man!!

Re: dual exhaust

Ryan... the rksport dual is really raspy until it warms up, but recently i put a magnaflow magna pack from the link above, 18", and it took all the raspyness away.

Jeff-B... i ran a 15.2 without my header and downpipe.. i am going to the track on the 19th of feb and seeing what i gain from the header

wow usually when dual exhaust comes up people start flaming. im so proud of you guys. *sniff*

but i do have to say dualies look hot as hell. if your boosted doesnt it actually help to have a dual instead of hurt because of backpressure and whatnot?

I have had my Duels for years now, and I love them. I have an OBX header, high flow cat, and RK Duels. It sounded really raspy with this set up, so I added a Resanator.

All I have is the RK (Magnaflow) dual, and it sounds quieter than when i just had a universal muffler on the tailpipe. The hangers have a lot of holes, so I'd like to make 2 cutouts and raise the mufflers up a little. It was a little raspy at first, but sounds great once its broken in. I've had it for a year, I love it.

extra weight, its not a performance mod just an appearance one

i eliminated my passenger side dual (sunfGT). From the cat, it branches with a Y which theoretically causes resistance. I went straight through with a bigger pipe from the cat, and a bigger muffler. If u could manage a way to have the passenger side branch from the side of the straight through (instead of a Y) you would lose nothing, and gain sound and appearance., but no performance increase as the gases take the straight through path of least resistance. I regretted leaving my passenger muffler in place disconnected when winter came, when the world assumed my passenger side was a "fake". Exhaust is visible on cold days ; )

I have the dual cat back exhaust from RK Sport as well. In my opinion it looks and sounds great. I got it because I too am going more for looks than performance. I am also very anal about my car and I want everything on it to be symmetrical, i.e dual exhaust . In my experiences you don't see Sport Compacts with dual exhaust too much and since I want my car to stand out while still looking practically stock I decided to go with the dual exhaust. Just my .02 though.
