I used to shift my 96 z24 like that. Nothing ever happened to it but like everyone has been sayin, if you want to shift get a manual, or at least an autotrans.



One by one.... the pieces start to come together...

BAD VERY VERY BAD I blow two torque converters that way!

if you shift an auto tranny with out letting off the gas it WILL NOT BLOW YOUR TRANNY!!!!! because you are doing the same thing the computer tells the tranny to do if you are in drive. i shift mine at the track because if i just leave it in drive i can't redline my ohv. but if i throw it in first i can! but i dont let off the gas like i have a clutch. my first car i shifted letting off the gas like i had a clutch and yes i blew my tranny...it was putting too much strain on it through that split second of shifting. but if you just put it in first and shift up with out letting off the gas it will not hurt your tranny! and with the downshifting if you are in "D" and your rpms are too high to downshift to third or second. the computer will not let it happen.
