a stock sleeper???

Ok i am new to this site. i learn about back when i had my 92 Bright Aqua Met RS conv. with a 2.2L 5speed. I now own a 04 LS with a 5-speed. on my first really street race i beat a Ford ZX3 that a had a header, cold air, fart pipe.etc. it was like a 00 or what everwhere. no idea what engine. i had no mods other then painted inter stuff, fog lights, a chevy windshleid sticker, and vent visors. and i schooled him. ( i have the tape to prove it) after the race he told me have surprized he was to be beaten by a stock cavy.

I want to know if any body esle had this same shock of surprize on the other guys face.

Welcome to the site.

Good race, but ZX3's are by no means slow as some people say thet are. They run low 16's stock, and with a few bolt on mods, they can easily put down 130 HP at the wheels. They are about on par with a stock Ecotec after adding Intake/Exhaust (to the ZX3).

The automatic ZX3's however, are a totally different matter. They are really slow, run about a low 17 1/4 mile stock, and don't respond very well to mods. The Focus that you ran was probably an Auto (that would be about right considering that without those mods the race would have been a joke) or the guy was just a really bad driver.

Either way, congrats on the win, and keep it safe.

i think you mean a factory freak, not a stock sleeper. there's no such thing as a stock sleeper, a sleeper is a car with major performance mods, but looks completely stock. a factory freak is a car that comes out of the factory with just a little more umph than the rest. rare, but it happens.

I remember when I had racing stripes and graphics on a 4 door 2200 3 speed with ubr sw33r grey bumpers. Those were the days. On JBO asking about the Bong and cheap mods.

I love my Z24 now.

At first, I was going to call , but then I read that you had

and I believed you.

Just kidding man. I think what he is saying is that Cavs and Sunfires are underrated, so when you beat someone with them, they are somewhat surprised.

He should be mid 13's or faster very soon. The 14.0 was with a slipping clutch and boost under 8psi.

That is just ugly

Well I dont think anyone here is surprised that your stock cavalier beat a Zx3. Pretty much the only ford that can beat your stock car is the V8 Mustang or the Lightning F150 everything else they make is 16s or slower. And thats the typically response from a Ford owner they cant belive they lost to a GM car. Ford owners are the most delusional ppl on the planet even worse than the import crowd

thank u for saying that. that is what i met. i am poor at english. and i had no idea what to title this.
and it was a stick. i kinda know the guy thought my cuz. which my cuz praised him on his mad skill.

this was about a month after i bought my car. so i was almost broke and scared to death about voiding my warrtiy. now i have custom cold air intake. ( i had a guy bend it at a muffler shop out of 3" exhaust pipe) cost= $20 for the bendable albows from Home Depot. to mock it up. $25 for the filter.

also my question was has any body else surprised there comp. with there ECOTEC.

i also beat a 96+ elcispe................................................................ he blew his clutch up after 100 ft................ but a win is a win.

^Agreed^

But as we all know stickers add s*it loads of HP, directly to the wheels!! But maybe the weight of the paint took away some HP, so basically it's stock.
