Sup guys, I have agx adjustable shocks and was wondering at what settings I should put them to have the best traction when launching.
I was thinking stiffest in front and softest in back, but I could be way wrong.
15.891 @ 88 mph stock, still getting @!#$ty launches...
first thing i would try is the stiffest possible setting in the rear, and very soft up front (gets the front end to squat and make most of the weight transfer squash the tires into the pavement)

Definitely stiff in the rear and soft in front. Thats good for front wheel drive cars, rear wheel drive is the opposite.
with my car it did better with 4f 8r. when i went softer in the front it would spin alot more. and i air the rear tires up allot 50to60psi
launch at 4000+ and their you have it
see ya!
I tried once at 4f and 8r but just for one pass. I simply couldn't stop spinning, all the way through 1st and second. Each time I let off the gaz to get traction back and I repunched it, it would just start to spin again like crazy. So I'm a bit sceptic about this. I thought it would eliminate some weight transfer and make my tires stick but obviously I did something wrong.

Nope.
RWD cars love stiff in the rear, soft in the front too. That's why alot of old school drag racers put worn shocks on the front to let it lift, aiding in tranfering weight to the rear tires. For FWD cars, you want the rear hard and high, and the front hard and low. But the front does need to be a little softer than the rear, but not much.

arrgg this is getting confusing.
what about when I can't adjust height ?
hard on both ? so let's say I use 4 ways in the fornt and 8 ways in the rear, like the kyb agx, then I do I use 3 in the front, 8 in the rear so the front is a bit softer ?

try different settings and see what your car likes. my car is a little raked and stiff as all get out. and make sure that you clean the tires off good too
see ya!

Try easing into the gas instead of punching it. Sometimes slower is faster.
Then just go hard on both ends, with the slightly harder setting on the rear.

Didn't know that, thanks Nitro. I'm gonna raise my rears up all the way and slam the front. That oght to look interesting.
About a week ago I got these times:
2004 Sunfire, 5 speed with a WAI and lowered with AGX's & pro-kit. Temps were over 100* on both runs...
First Run Front AGX settings 2F 4R, 30PSI in front tires
60: 2.430
330: 6.981
1/8: 10.702
MPH: 66.37
1000: 13.859
1/4: 16.504
MPH: 85.05
2nd Run AGX Settings: 4F 8R, 28PSI in front tires
60: 2.422
330: 6.933
1/8: 10.632
MPH: 66.97
1000: 13.768
1/4: 16.417
MPH: 84.77
the 1st run I had bad tire hop on the 1-2 shift, 2nd run the 1-2 shift was just a small chirp.
I have Konis so I'm not sure what the 4's and 8's and mean. But at the track I have my front and rear set as stiff as they go and it's good for 2.0 60's on street tires. I would say, set the rear as stiff as it goes and leave that alone, then make a pass with the fronts as stiff as they go, then make another with the fronts a little softer and compare the 60' times. Just remember to make each run identical (lauch rpm, stage depth, etc.) so you can make sure it's your setup and not your launch that's yeilding better or worse results. Good luck.

i know i'm on different struts but...
tokico D-specs on prokits

worked out great

60' ... 2.418

MPH ... 67.234

Well thats my best with my 98 sunfire 5 speed... and i had it 4 in the front and 8 in the back... hardest on both... the car stuck and went like a mofo. I actually did damage to the tranny on this one lol and left because it felt funny. Few days later the speedo was jumpin around because of metal shavings on the speed sensor. Sooo what my point is its solid as hell for me on the hardest settings, no wheel hop or spin for me.
awww deadbob how u gona let the old fire beat u?!?! lol, kidding. i think i probably could have pulled a 16.3xxx with one more pass...

lol!!!
That's what happens when you let the internet set your car up for you.
Spend a night watching launches. Good, bad, and ugly. Think hard about what the car has to do, what the weight does on a launch. Burn yourself out, get some sleep, and in the morning you'll probably wake up with a plan.
