Ford's SVT is not dead yet.

Ford want's to expand their line up. They are taking cues from Chryslers SRT sections and GM Performance Division

So expect this very soon:
-SVT will grow into 5 products
-All will be Ford branded car. No Mercury or Lincoln.
-Main aspect for SVT is their powertrain then come chassis dynamics
-Expand the Inline-4 cars
-Venture in All Wheel drive
-Expect Turboed and Supercharged SVT models, expertise from the Ford GT
-The Cobra will the best one yet

With that said, The next Cobra will have 400+HP close to 450HP actually. From the looks of it, Cobra will not have IRS for now, hopefuls will hope for a last minute change. Besides the Cobra will be out for 2007 model year with a price tag of $40K. Thats plenty of time to come up with a good IRS.

Keeping you updated on SVT's portfolio.

So far, no Lightning yet (that will change, I'm sure), Mustang Cobra is rumored to be a t 460 horse, and SVT has acknowledged looking at the upcoming Fusion (based on Mazda6 chassis) as a possible canidate, probably with the turbo four motor.

I've been pissed at Ford ever since they wouldn't let SVT realease thier ZX2. Or any of the components they made for it. Then Ford wouldn't let Roush release the superchargers for the ZX2. I think Ford hates the Escort. Damn that Focus.

None... Yet! The latest as of now is that Mazdaspeed came out with goodies to improve the handling and the looks on the RX-8 and expect a turbo on the Mazda 3 which of course its the obvious.

But I would not be surprised if the Mazdaspeed 6's AWD and/or Turbo 2.3L to go in the SVT portfolio.
Beside now Ford has Volvo on their team, and we know they make some good Turbo engines.
Maybe a version of Focus RS with SVT badge in the states? We can only hope.

You can always get the overpriced Saleen Focus that when you hook up the N2O it voids the engine warranty!

Yes because everyone is beating down the door for a S/C escort.

they certainly wouldnt make an svt ranger and not a lightning, considering the f-150 is the best selling truck and a better platform

a 2.3L duratec with a turbo would be nice in a focus,... to bad they are still ugly. they need a coupe (with a facelift).

That car got top reviews by every one that drove it. It handled like a dream and the turbo spooled up very fast. The Fusion (S/C) cars are kept locked away now to. That SVT ZX2 was an SVT from the ground up. They didn't overlook anything. Then entire suspension was re-done and they added the turbo the stock engine to run 6 psi. It made something like 230 hp.

Even the regular ZX2 outsold the Focus the first 2 years the Focus was out. And you never saw a commercial about the ZX2 either. The car sold itself. Trust me, if they were allowed to release the car, people would beat down the door for an Escort that can beat Mustang GTs in every aspect. SVT made it to good for too cheap. It was a threat to their bread and butter Mustang line.

Rousch is aftermarket, they dont do models for dealers. They basically take your mustang and make it ridiculous, or truck, or focus

You can get brand new Roush off the dealer showroom floor already done up they come in different stages. A dealership here had a TON of them last year over 15. Roush has also been involved recently with much of the new Mustang line.

The new Mustang likely won't have IRS for awhile it was cut in pre- production due to costs of R&D also the new live axle setup handles better and has less wheel hop then the IRS on the 04 Cobras!

Current word from the Lightning crowd is it looks dim for a chance of another Lightning for awhile. At the very least production of a new L has been pushed back a few years.

Also your correct the SVT name is supposedly going to broaden into more cars/trucks. From what I gather the SVT name is going to start to mean cars that have more then just strait line power and decent in the turns. The new head of the SVT program would like to take the SVT cars in the direction that they will be in closer competition to European cars in handling, performance, comfort and refinement.

Now the real problem with some of the info people are hearing is a lot of it is rumors. I won't believe a lot of these things until I hear ford announcing it!

I read in Motor Trend that the Ford did not have any plans to make a Lightning F-150 in the new body style. They are going to make a Cobra though....

As for the Escort.... Ummm. I had an new Escort ZX2 and I was not to impressed with it in anyway. An escort with a Duratec 3.0L would be crazy though. It's one of the few cars I sat in that feels cheaper then my Z24. And IMO, the wheels are too small.
