hmm, new info for me to know about. I always hear stories about bad gas mileage...that just could be because my friends were the ones complaining and they don't usually baby their f-bodies.

Have a good one,
Justin

Right now on my GTO, I'm getting 19mpg breaking it in and driving like an ass. I have the gauges where it tells average mpg, and when you get on the highway and set the cruise at 70mph, this thing just loves it. The mpg rises the whole time. It helps to be at 1500rpm at 70mph in sixth gear.

Who cares if it's an automatic?

It's still one sweet car.

I don't think you'll regret it at all either. They aren't really meant for snow and rain, but it's not that hard to keep 'em under control. People underrate RWD in crappy weather.

I think it would be a nice fun car for you to have and you will like it, guaranteed.

it says 18/26 for the autos..and 19/29for the manual..this is both on premium gas...so if u got a good job and u dont really mind the gas..then go for it..keep us posted

if you can afford the insurance than by all mean, get that bitch, and with a powerful car like that it might be just as good to have an automatic

Steph,
You know very well the T/A is going to compliment the GT very well.
Wish I could say that.
If I were you, run a history check first just to be safe. The gas mileage is not really that much diffrent then the GT, the only thing will be that it will cost you more cuz of the bigger tank and premium fuel.
But that is something to over come, think about it... . Drop the T-tops to the trunk and hear that engine rumble, now isn't that relaxing?

But something to watch out for would be the insurance and speeding tickets. But steph I would jump on that in a heartbeat if I were you.

What color is it?

is it a ram air?

if your worried about snow driving, as long as u have light foot, four studded snows, and im pretty sure they come with traction control, you should be fine.

With gears and a converter you will be leaving the 6spd's behind. Sounds like a good deal.

Major props for driving an F-body in the snow. I pulled mine out of the garage the other day with just a light snow and i got stuck, what a pain in the ass. Anyways, id jump all over that T/A. You will downright love driving it. Throw a loudmouth on it and scare some little kids. I would of bought me an LS1 but i found my 96' with lil over 20k on her for a great price. Besides i kinda like the low end grunt of an LT1..topped off with a 430HP LT4 kit

Definetly buy it! Its worth it. It will put a smile on you everytime you drive it. Put some longtubes and exhaust and it will make it even better yet. If you can keep the GT for your winter driver.

WTF DID I TELL YOU??? NEVER POST A REPLY TO ANYTHING I SAY...

I swear to all that is holy, if you were in front of me, I would probably choke you...at least I would be doing everyone a favor around here

Steph, buy it, drive up here (Chi-Town) I'll get all the J's in this area together so we can watch you choke Mikey Likey Oh, and take me for a ride

The only things I hated about my ole 1987 Firebird was 2.8L V6, Auto, and daily driver. Good things about it was 64K miles when I bought it (87 model year, mind you, bought in 2002), I was second owner (old guy accountant at my old job had it), and $700. More to hate about my old one - no traction control, sh*tty mileage even w/o hard driving (avg 11.5, once hit a whopping 13.5) and I kinda spun a 180, hit a curb, snapped an axle, and car was gone for a month at the shop b/c it was during the GM strike a few years ago - go figure that was three days after I bought it.

These are the pics I had online when I tried selling it (before trading it in on an 87 Pathfinder)

Every day, I go out to my 00 Cav LS sedan 2200 Auto, and think "Why the h311 was I SSSOOO stupid to get rid of the Firebird??" Oh yea, being a third gen I got tons of looks everywhere b/c there's like 2 third gens on the street in my area. BTW, there was some rust around the rear driver side wheel well

Sellers remorse is really the only bad thing a T/A will give you - after you sell it one day.
That's why I'm looking for another one ...
