Wax (prepare for winter!)
Sunday, September 06, 2009 9:00 PM
Okay, a quick question-what are you guys running now? (More so for those whose cars will do winter).

I'm usually a big fan of Mother's or Meg's. (both seem to work fine)

My gut tells me this is going to be a rough winter. So I want to step it up.

Right now I'm looking at Meg's Tech 2.0 wax.

Suggestions? Opinions?

mother's, just because i've had success with it.

i have used meg's 2.0 on my car. in order to get a deep shine. you have to use a TON of paint cleaner steps one and two. and a ton of time too.
once it is done it is nice. but it takes a lot to get it that way. if your looking just for a simple product to cover the paint and protect it over the winter. i would go with meg's gold class

I really like Meg. Tech wax 2.0 I'm not exactly how sure it will hold up in a harsh winter, but its great during the summers here in TN.

It easy to put on and sets up really nicely.

Heck, I'd be happy if it lasts the winter here........

I use the tech wax 2.0 now.

Last winter I used Zymol. My paint was beading all winter.

It looks like people like the 2.0....

Zymol smells better though. Hahaha.

Its all natural as opposed to Tech Wax which is fully synthetic. It has beeswax and stuff like that its neat to read th ingredients. but Im easily amused.

In all honesty no matter what you use you should be fine. I just take my car through the car was like once a week just to knock the salt and such off. Then I try to do a full was and wax maybe once a month if possible.

i stick with the meguiars gold class liquid, the harshness of winter should not affect how hard the salt hits it. as long as you have the ability to wash it and not let it freeze you should be well off.

True. I might even wait and just get the NXT next year.

Good thing is hopefully the 04 will avoid salt again this winter. It's getting one last coat of Meg's and it's done.

Not worried about the Balt (beater anyways, just want to keep it clean), just want to keep her Cav in the best shape I can.

I found this stuff called Collonite No. 845 insulator wax http://www.collinite.com/ works really well, lasts for months. I've used it on my cav, jet ski and truck and it has held up to anything thats been thrown at it.

Meg's 2.0 is what I use all year round and it's pretty awesome. But I use the whole kit, the car was, pre-wax, the missing step bottle thing ((I forget what it's called)), and then the 2.0.

I'm not going anywhere just yet

Yes this is what you want for long lasting wax! Collonite 845 or 476s are great choices and are quite inexpensive. I use 845 in my shop and have been for over a year now, it not only looks great but it really holds up way better than many of the popular waxes. Not to sound like an infomercial but I'd never go back to mothers, meguires, or turtle wax!
