what exactly are they reflashing, what adjustments are being made also, I can't see it beng very accurate since they don't have you car there, like everyone always says, every car responds different to every mod

o yea...i think its my CEL i have right now thats causing the lack of power. i was racing around with my friend with his cavi and my car looked like it had now EXTRA power....it had power but no extra power. could the lack of power be because of the CEL?

yes, if the phantom kncok is being picked up it could throw it into limp mode which retards like 20-somethign degrees of ignition timing

go to jbodyperformance.com they have a toll free number, call and ask them about it they can answer it better then i can. i guess i do have the "phantom knock" b/c my friend has an auto cavi with just an intake and he kept up with me. i pulled for a half second and then didnt budge.

The only way you can tell if you are experiencing knock retard (phantom or real), is to datalog your car and see it for yourself. Then you can take steps to determine if the knock is real (and how to get rid of it) or phantom. You CAN'T simply be unhappy with your performance and attribute it to "phantom knock".

i called jbp as well to find out about the pcm reflashing. because ive been waiting ages for this. apparently they've been doing it for some time now. they said that they can do anything I want to the car. all they need is the VIN and the my computer. i am not throwing codes with my stage 2 cams or anything but i can bump up the rev limiter, raise the speed limiter, turn the fans on whenever i want, harness more power out of my cams, change the ignition timing, change the o2 reading. even better is that they said that they will dyno tune my car for free with purchase of the reflash! hows about that! i love living in toronto.

on page 3 someone said $570 us. i wonder how this would work for people like me who dont live near jbp? it does sound expensive but if it is upgradeable and dyno tuned, maybe

I remember looking into buying a set up to reprogram gm pcm's a while back but forgot about it becasue of the cost. I never fully looked into the options but the system we were looking at was fairly extensive. We could pull this off if there was enough people interested. Wouldn't be restricted to just ecotecs either. Pricing would totally be dependant on how many people were interested. off the top of my head it'd be around the following:

10 - $400
15 - $350
20 - $300
25 - $250

Although I am still trying to find a dealership that will just do it for me.

this all sounds good but i dont want to mail my computer away and be out of a car for a minimum of three days if both sides overnight the thing. and if it is more than just ecos we can for sure find 20 people

You wouldn't have to send in a pcm, we could just get one from a wreckers. ut as I said I am still looking into it further. I have to find my notes, and all of that. Right now I can't even remember who I was talking to about the system. I'll let you all know when I know more, but it may take me a few days.

Just found my old notes and called the company. Apparently I have a different version of the word reprogramming. What their software does is reload stock programs from the gm catalog. It has absolutly no ability to change anything.

I also talked to another dealership and apparently they do not have the ability to change the programming, just update it from gm's master catalog.

I am going to email a contact an see if they have any imput. More later ....

I have a 2.4 and I just got my cams in yesterday. They were made by Colt Cams who is also making the ecotec cams for Level Zero. I'm also getting the multiple cylinder misfire. I might be wrong but I think I know why it's doing it.

The first time I started the car up the check engine light wasnt on. We shut it off, finished the car up and started it again and the check engine light came on. We cleared it I took it out a beat it on it a little bit and no check engine light. The next day I drove the car to the car wash to clean it up, no check engine light. The check engine light didnt come on again until about 6pm when I was about to leave for the dyno. I cleared it went to the dyno, did 4 runs with and without Nitrous. Drove back to the shop and no check engine light. Little while later I went to Burger King to grab some food, and this is where I think I figured it out. While in the drive through the girl in front of me was ordering and I saw her look back at me because my car was loud. My throttle sticks a little bit ever since I bought it, and with the nitrous it's been sticking even more so I idle at 1,500 to 2,000 rpm. Well I gave the gas a real quick tap to get the butter fly plate loose so it would idle normal. Once the idle dropped down to about 800-900 I could feel the engine and cams lope. Not even a minute later my check engine light came on and I got the multi cylinder misfire code. It seems like if you keep the idle around 1,500 it doesnt come back. Maybe you guys can try turning up your idle to 12-1300 and see what happens. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to work for me.

well tonight i got an extra hose attached it to my fuel pressure regulator and to the intake manifold. at first it took care of my stalling but i cleared my CEL and when i took it out it wanted to stall but then i got it to idle and drove on it some more and it idled great did even come close to stalling of even think aboout it. i must have gotten some gains (i can't even tell anymore if i did or didnt. i think if we gained more torque it would be different) b/c i went out and beat a Gti Vr6 (200hp 195tq) a decent win for me. i think i drove my car like 20-30 miles last night and still no CEL. i'm crossing my fingers though that it doesnt come back when i turn my car back on later today. aight gotta head back to bed (can't sleep, i dont normally stay up till 6 in the morning) and for the post above my car likes to idle anywhere from 700-1000. 1000 has seemed to be a sweet spot since i got the cams put it. when the car idles at 700-900 the lope inside the car sounds awesome but is a hard lope but when it goes to 1000 rpms it is a smoother lope.

I know the lope sounds cool but I think it's whats causing the computer to read the missfire.
