Has anybody sprayed using these cams?
<br>
imstarting to get the code more often now i just got it yesterday and it went away now i got it agaiin today
I'm probably not goin to install my cams until the spring...hopefully someone has a solution by then...I'm sad to say i'm gettin a little discouraged but i guess problems are all a part of modding...
also, i'm most likely gettin them installed by a GM mechanic...is there anything they can do to the comp to eliminate the CEL's?
Hey Livid, i'm getting the System too Rich code every other day (200 miles) and also when the engine is cold the car wants to stahl when i push in the cluth to stop at a stop sign or light. The RPM's just take a nose dive. But once the car is warm there is no problem, other then the system too rich code. What did you tell me I might need a few months ago when i got my PnP head? (look at my mods in my profile)
Supernova00 - Check you email.
Once I installed the cams, the misfiring disappeared, not as much lope either. I do get the 'system too rich' codes still. But the car was running rich before the cams and they just pushed it over the edge. Other than that it runs fine. <br>
hey LIVID any luck about the "phantom knock" problem i know last time u checked in u said u were working on it. so any progress? (even if its little. i think anything would help us) <br>

We havn't made any definative headway. All I can really say is that over the last 10 days my light has been coming on less and less. I havn't changed anything becasue I started to notice this and wan't to see what happens. I'm almost wondering if the change in weather is responsible, or if maybe it's lower oil preasure. Neither of these really make sense but becasue of how odd this whole issue is I wouldn't rule anything out.
What I am starting to suspect is that it has alot to do with the intake set up. Is anyone else running an aem cai? What I would like is a if people can email me their mod list, and what if any problems they have experienced. Including how often and how the car felt. I want to see if I can spot a pattern.
i havent gotten my car back yet when i caled called around 12:30 today they said they are putting it abck together and would call me when its done. so when i get it back i'll tell you if i'm getting any CELs......if i did my mod list is just:

ok heres the deal with my car. i talked to the guys working with it and they said that they are done it runs great and revs up great and all that good stuff.... BUT......it stalls out when it comes to a stop......but my car does that when it comes to a stop when i have my a/c on. (who needs a/c anyway. lol) he said i could go to a gm dealership and they could reflash my computer for me. would the reflash be worth it? or will the stalling go away? <br>

you should let your car warm up anyway b/c ur oil is like sludge sitting in ur oil pan and u need ot warm ur car up to get the oil flowing to reduce metal to metal contact. <br>

When the car is cold it may stall. There isn't much you can do about this except adjust your driving style and get into the habit of warming your car up, which is actually going to be a better thing for your engine in the long run.
As for it stalling while it is warm, I have had this problem in the past. I have found that it's from the way the ecu is reset. The first thing I would recommend is to reset the ecu and do the following:
1. Disconnect the battery for 20 minutes
2. Reconnect the battery
3. Turn ignition into the on position and let sit for 30-45 seconds
4. Start the car, without touching the throttle and let run for 3- 5 minutes
5. Repeat step 4
6. Start the car again, but once it has been running for 20-30 seconds blip the throttle. You may notice the rpms dip low. Continue blipping the throttle until the rpms stop dipping too low.
7. Shut the car down, and repeat step 6.
8. Shut the car down, start it up and take it for a test drive.
I know it's a bit of a long process but that's simply what I have found has worked for me when I have to reset the ecu. I have noticed when doing this that for the first 1-3 days after the car may stumble everynow and then at a light, but it slowly learns to adjust the decay rates.
When cold, below freezing, I have to let it warm up. Until it gets to the big mark between 100 and 195, it's not a happy car. Anything under that mark and it runs like crap and tries to stall <br>
well before i took it home today i let the car sit there until the temp was at 195 then it stalled 3 times and ran great for an hour. then turned the car off went in my friends house and watch the movies we made with the car this morning. came back out wouldnt start unless i gave it gas. and stalled all the way home. then i went inside sat online for a little bit went back out the car started fine. let the car run for a while then shut it off to see if it would do it again...it didnt of course so i gave it gas and started it. the CELs came on. took it to autozone. 3 codes....1 bank 1 to rich and 2 multi random cyl misfires. we cleared the codes and they havent come back yet. went to visit my g/f and it ran ok. then it kept the stalling up all the way till i wasnt able to stall b/c i was on the turnpike/ interstate. once i got off the interstate and on town roads it was still doing it. parked my car behind my dorm came back out and need to give it gas to start again. i manually idled the car until it would idle itself. then drove it parked it in the freshmen parking lot turned it off and sat there for a couple mins and then turned it on and it turned on fine. that was my lovely day.....although all these annoying problems when i was on the turnpike i stretched it out and they felt veyr good. it feel like my car grew balls and wanted to go fast. <br>
