So essentially, exhaust, an intake, and a tb are the only hp mods listed, in which case you MIGHT see 160hp at the crank, but I doubt it.

15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?

Let see:
-a stock Eco makes 140hp to the crank
-calculating 10% of lost of power in the tranny (which is pretty low considering your car is automatic) you would need 178hp to the crank (to put 160 to the wheel)
-that's a 38hp gain

I say not possible with bolt-ons

add some internals to that list and you can get over 160whp.

Are ya trying to figure out wheel or crank HP. With a header, intake, exhaust and throttle body you'd be at 160 or a little more at the crank maybe. But not at all at the wheels. What you have done is aloud your engine to breathe easier which does help, but ya need something internal to run faster like cams or more underdrive pulleys to get some real gain without boost.

5whp? The 62mm throttle body is PROVEN to add 10whp and has been dynoed. I would say close. Don't get discouraged by the 2.4l guys

It's just now cutting it's teeth.

MAYBE 160 crank hp, maybe if you're lucky... Probably around 140-145whp.

I am VERY skeptical of this claim. I can not see the TB on its own being good for an additional 10 hp, nevermind at the wheel. POSSIBLY if it were complementing a turbo setup, or something of the sort, but on an NA platform, with just that as a mod (without complementing mods such as FULL exhaust, and other bolt ons) I really cant see this being true. Prove me wrong, and I'll gladly eat my words.

There was a before and after nydo graph of stock eco on the dyno and then added WAI and 62 MM TB while the car was still on the dyno, redynod and DID gain 10 whp out of it, but that is definetly not typical. with those mods defientely not 160 WHP, nto even close out of an auto

Excuse me???? I'm a 2.4 guy here, and I'm just stating the truth here. Motor for motor the 2.4 has more power to start, and I would not say I have 160 WHP, maybe close. He is a auto so he is looking at a good 15-18% tranny loss. I'm saying the Ecotec is abad motor or anything because it is not. This motor has surprised me. He asked a question and stating a answer. There is plenty of modded eoctecs out there, but I have not see or heard of any putting that kind of power all motor with bolt on, or hitting 14's all motor.

Well already that's not attributable to the tb, as you've added an intake as well. You can't say the intake didn't help the power gains, so in the end how much can you really attribute to the tb? I'm sure I can find posts on here claiming 11hp from the intake alone, does that mean the tb caused a loss of 1hp?

Does not count. You should and I agree, but it has not been proven yet.

John Higgins
So your agreeing with me? I said "close" too.

I apologize if my info was wrong.. tb=10 whp instead of tb/i=10 whp. Still that's good gains for those mods. I was just trying to give the guy some confidence because regarless of gains it's fun to modify and try to reach performance goals

the bored out TB DOES NOT FUGIN PUT OUT 10 WHP, believe me, i just took my 62MM BORED TB FROM RSM off and put my stock one back on, very small difference

now if it was on a boosted cav, i could see it, but not NA, unless it was HEAVILY modified

^^^^
he just corrected himself if you would read what he posted
i think he mean ten hp not ten whp

well there has been more than one stock cavy dyno at 133 whp
which is only 7hp loss or 5%
so if it were a manual id bet youd be alot closer

I wouldn't say you're putting down 160whp. A mod itself can give you X amount of horsepower but you'll be dissapointed when it's coupled with another.

Re: Could i expect 160 WHP with these engine mods?

my 2.4 auto was dyno'd at 140 , with wai , 57mm tb , and 2 1/4" cat back , and lower mount

so youll be hard pressed to get 160 from just those and the eco starts 10 hp down from a 2.4

your exhaust is probably a lil too big until you boost
