Gotcha. So being an LNF on boost, you went with the stock plugs or upgraded to Laser Iridium? What was your decision on going LI on the LNF? Stock recommended? You a haven't modified the car much etc.? I always figured cars on boost should stick with copper plugs whether 1 step colder or 2 step depending on the mods.

Since the cavy loves the copper, you'd prefer I went V power then the stock AC DELCO Plats?

LNF comes with laser Iridium's factory. I went with them again, but a heat range colder because it is my daily and I want them to last. Only performance done to it and a small tune with 20psi, and richened it up as GM runs the DI motors lean. I have 130k on the HHR. Just changed the plugs. I do not mind spending $50 on plugs ever 130k.

On a true play toy project I would go with something cheaper if I'm likely going to change more often than 130k. I hope that makes sense.

I will say if you are boosted on your ecotec (I know your not currently) I would recommend the same plug I just put in my LNF. Mostly because it is pre gapped. If you can find a V Power a heat range colder for your motor then I would recommend that.

Thanks for the info. Nice DD btw.

So, my next mod (P&P built head) puts me up to the 200 WHP+ mark (it should). Go 1 step colder because? Please explain so I understand. I change plugs almost every 6 months, I have no problem spending $50 on plugs myself twice a year (even if not needed).

I would likely not change from stock heat range as you are not increasing compression.

Great. Thanks for the advice man. On the NGK site, they don't have a V power available. AC delco site only listed the Rapidfire which is a platinum plug. Looks like I'm goin plat! Will search for a copper plug, there are tons out there.

So let me get this straight, the NGK g power won't work on my eco? But the NGK laser iridium will? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ngk-3474 (laser iridium) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ngk-5019 (NGK g power)

For boost purposes I have always went the NGK Iridium. They also come pre gapped but I run 2 steps colder. I currently have 1 step colder in the car since my 2 step colder are fouled and the car is not fine tuned yet. Its about $25 for a set of 4, so I do them once or twice a year.

No one said they would not work in your car.

technically any plug would work in any car.

What stock number? Also where are you getting them for $25 for 4? What are they pre-gapped at?

The NGK G power is basically the stock AC DELCO platinum plug for the L61 ecotec. I'd like to find a fine tip platinum plug like the my NGK iridium's 0.7mm tip.

Well yeah, what I meant was someone mentioned something about reach & how it could I believe damage the heads or something? I'll have to go back and 're read.

Interested the. They are pre gapped at .032. Reach is 19mm, where stock is 25mm.

The 3787's I'm running and usually recommend in boosted Ecotec's are 1 heat range colder, but same reach as stock.

Re: Ecotec spark plugs?

Yes, I see that. NGK heat ranges go colder as the number increases. The 3787 has a heat range of 6 at 25MM length vs the 5690 which has a heat range of 7 (2 steps colder) but is at 16MM length (I didnt see the 19MM you mentioned). Stock heat range then for the ecotec motor, L61 anyway is 5 for NGK. I use the 4344 with a stock heat range of 5 and at the 25MM length.

As it was mentioned, do no go colder unless you change the compression or on boost.

Don't forget im running an LSJ head as well. I almost screwed myself when I was getting ready to start it and going to put plugs in it... I had L61 plugs and had an oh @!#$ moment and remembered to use the LSJ plugs instead.

You are correct. 19mm is a LSJ plug reach.
