All third-generation J-body cars (1995 through 2005 models) have a crash data recorder as part of the airbag system.
For the 1995 model year, airbags were placed in the J-body cars. 1995 cars have a DERM (Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module). It is under the dash, behind the plastic panels, on the centre hump between the front driver and passenger footwells.
For the 1996 model year (and through the 2005 model year), the DERM module was replaced by a SDM module (sensing and diagnostic module). The SDM is bolted to the floor under the carpet under the front passenger seat.
The DERM or SDM is integral to the airbag system, and removing it from the vehicle will completely disable the airbags. Removing it without first disabling the system may even deploy the airbags. For safety, it is recommended that you don't mess with the airbag system unless you actually know what you're doing :)

*Driver’s Belt Switch Circuit Status (Buckled/Unbuckled).
*Passenger Front Airbag Suppression Switch Circuit Status (ON/OFF).
*# of Ignition Cycles at Deployment/Near-Deployment.
*# of Ignition Cycles at Investigation.
*Time from Algorithm Enable to Deployment Command (msec).
*Time From Near-Deployment to Deployment Command (sec) (If within 5 seconds).
