The bell housing on the 2200 AT is often mistaken for the 2.2 ecotec which has a different bell housing and will not fit a 2.4 DOHC (LD9) engine. How do I know this its a secret, lol. I hope this helps.
I sure would like to know if a 2.2 ecotec (L61) AT will fit into a 2.4 (LD9) engine without any modifications?
My 2001 Z24 Cavalier has a transmission specific to only that year only. I have been to the local wreckers and see so many 4T40E's but with all differences in reference to the starter size and location. I read somewhere that in 1999 the 2.4 (LD9) switched to a smaller starter. I will take some pictures and post in hopes this may one day help someone out.
