i bought this car for $200 with what was described to me as "it just blow'd up one day at the stop light over yonder". i figure, what the hell, cant be too bad of a deal, a cherry body, very good interior, and less than 87K miles. of course i jumped on the rebuild, yanked the motor, tore it down, to find that it did indeed "blow'd up". the timing tensioner disintegrated, spewing shrapnel throughout the crankcase, through the oil pump, to all the oil bores, eventually clogging #3 main, seizing the engine. so, with a little help, i have changed the crank, the cam, lifters, new oil pump, all bearings, the freeze plugs, all gasgets, all pistons and one new rod from the dealer ($120 for one rod... ouch). after a new set of tires, this car was as good as it had been the day it rolled off the factory floor.
