1989 Pontiac Sunbird GT

About This Vehicle:

Well, right now it leaks oil because of this ingenious "wrap-around-the-crankshaft" oil pump design (the repair sleve didn't work) and I've got to replace a gasket under the timing belt to get rid of the seeping coolant, the paint is lousy, the rear window is splintering from age, the front clip is the wrong color , but DAMN is it fast.

Body Style: Convertible
Color: Dark Red
Engine: 2.0L I4 SOHC Turbo
Transmission: Automatic
Interior: Grey Metrix
Purchase Date: July 2001
Purchased From: Sleaze-O Brooklyn Hoser Motor Corp Of Cropsey Ave

MODIFICATIONS

Engine:
  • New bearings and gaskets... no more rod knock. Replaced a timing belt
  • snapped it
  • and replaced it again.
Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:
  • Replaced high-tech turbo 14" rims with Grand Am 16" rims... they really fill out the wheels wells.
Interior:
  • Lear-Seigler air bladder seats from a Grand Am
  • Sharky.
Exterior:
  • Lousy Paint job on pasenger door/fender and header panel
  • Front clip is dark grey because the original one was crunchy.
Audio:
  • Tossed the boken ARC system cassette deck for the ARC CD player from my old Sunbird
Future:
  • Some bodywork on the lousy painted areas
  • replace some of the tired suspension
  • finish working on the replacement engine (machined block to 30 over new crank starter oil pump turbo unit and some other things)
  • would be nice to fix the a/c
