And we were told it couldnt be done!!!!!!
Sunday, December 19, 2004 6:11 PM
We with absoutly no issues we made it work. For those of who dont travel through the photos and media, here are some pics of the install we began today. Tell me what you think.

Not one part of the body had to be modified to make this fit. Everything is close but nothing is hitting and it sits in the hole just perfect. Hope you all enjoy. Any comments are welcome.
Pics look good Brad. The engine is in the hole and it looks like it was meant to be. There were no major issues at all, it litterally just dropped right in like it belonged there. I can't wait to hear this thing fire up.
Um question, i see its very close, and could use an acid bath and all.

But how are you gonna route the exhaust? The firewall looks way close to the rear of that engine, and your radiator on the other side, is gonna be close too.
nope, that (whatever it is) was never in a GA, they came with the iron duke, quad 4, tc, 3300, 3100, and 3400 and thats it. it kinda looks like those motors in the old turbo grand prix's
dohc 3.4 l 60 deg v6 found in grand prix gtp / some luminas they made as much as 225 hp stock, impressive little engine for a junkyard jem hardly the power output (stock) to justify the swap but BAD ASS nonetheless *two thumbs up* what transmission axles and hub assemblies are you planning on running?
The engine is a DOHC 3.4L 24 valve and is out of a Olds Cutlass Supreme International. It also came in the Lumina Z34's, and older Grand Prix GTP's among others.

The engine is being torn down and rebuilt in January, so it is far from the finnished product. There is plenty of room for the exhaust in the rear. A set of custom headers is being made for it, if there are any clearance issues then the firewall will be modified to make it work. The front rad support is going to be moved a few inches forward, there will be more than enough room for the rad.
Yes it is the 3.4 quad cam. Yes it was in some of the gran prix. gtp's, lumina z34, and olds cutlass supreme. This one came out of an olds cutlass supreme. The engine was just fitted yesterday and will be coming back out to be cleaned repainted and rebuilt. Everyone we spoke to told us that we would have brake booster issues. It looks tight but there is actually more room than it seems. It will not hit any where at all. the front rad support does have to have some mild customization for the dip stick but other than that it will work fine.

Curbie: When this engine is built and twin turboed i will let you eat those words lol. The tranny is staying automatic, with stock axels. This is not a drag car, it is a convertable and we did the swap because we were told it couldnt be done!

To everyone else any questions, i will be glad to answer.
Brother, awesome job, but I wouldn't be suprised if you get this damn thing up and running about 2006.
You guys just did the easy part, wait for the tranny and the wiring and axles and other stuff.

You said it is a direct bolt on, so how is it when you have to make a new sub-frame for it??

I don't think he said that it was a direct drop in, just that there was no clearance issues. As far as it being 2006 before it's running, I doubt that. It should be up and running for this spring/summer.
Bud, axels and tranny are out of an older j-body and it is in stock location and will work no problem. It could be up and running today, but it is coming back out to be rebuilt and the frame is seemless. You have to remember that you need something strong to take the pull of and engine that size. Thats why gm put a frame under them. As far as drop in goes, it was without complication.
