that trap speed seems a little low. im pulling a horrible 16.8 on the 1/4 and i trap about 83mph. any reason why yours is so low?

Looks like the times are falling. Back when I started with my 2.2 I did about a 16.4 while stock. After the RK engine mounts upper and lower, RSM intake, and DTM muffler with 2.25 piping I was able to pull a 16.0 at the bash with 17's and system. Not to bad from Driving from Oklahoma to Ohio and dragracing. I can't find the tims slips after all the moving, but the guys of the old TeamRVR can back me up. Anyways back to this... You are doing great and I hope those keep those times falling. I've got just about everything for my 2.4 swap so I just get better times first off.

I give you props on doing what your doing to your car.
But I still don't understand why you didn't take all the money that you put into the motor of the weak 2200, and do an LD9 or Ecotec swap and pull mid to low 15s STOCK.

My car ran 16.1 Best at the track with intake and exhaust.

But im sure if you keep doing what your doing, the times will continue to fall.

all that work and money and I can beat you with my stock 2.4.

seems like a waste.

it may seem like a waste to some....but being the underdog is what some people love

ive had alot of thoughts about putting some work into my 2.2.....i just pulled a 16.8 last friday, i was pretty happy with that run, and i think i could hit 16 flat with a little weight reduction and some more bolt ons

soo good work man, you live in jersey right??? maybe ill see you sometime over this summer i have been thinking of coming up for a jersey J meet

Yea but as far as most people know, his car could be a z24. Most people don't know the difference between a 2.4 or 2,2 so I don't really see the point of doing it either?

dont care about the sound to be honest... although I am going to weld it up and change out some piping cuz it flows like crap... the tone should change slightly, but I have no resonators and no cat and I'm pretty sure its gonna stay that way.

it won't be a waste when you see my taillights all the way down the track and I pop the hood and have my cute little LN2 under there

modifying a car is about taking something that isn't great, and making it great. My car didn't come with an eco or 2.4, and motor swaps are for quitters. So the LN2 is the poison of my choice.

Everyone else gives up on them, but I, along with a few other org members, are gonna show you what they're capable of

I'm not sure... I think it was an F body...

next for go fast is roller rockers, larger TB, new clutch, lighter flywheel, LSD, GReddy eManage, then I'm going to turbo charge it... I already have a manifold and a turbo cam from JBP

somewhere inbetween all that I'm doing the suspension, wheels and tires, and making the car look nice... suspension at least... it'll prolly still be ugly by the bash, but at least it'll be fast

Thank you that is exactly what I keep saying!!!! But I'm gonna have to modify a LOT since I have a 2.2 OHV but I'm gonna try my best to make it a competitor

"modifying a car is about taking something that isn't great, and making it great."

no its not. I modify my TA and its already great. at least i consider a 13.2 at 109 stock great. Modifying a car is the process of wasting money that u MORE THEN LIKELY, will never see again if u get rid of the car. congrats, after all ur mods u are still losing to a stock 2.4. sorry man, just can't get into the ln2. Thats why its left to u =)

Some of you guys sound hipocritical about putting money into a slow engine. When ever some guy with a LS1 or whatever says you guys are dumb for putting money into a cavalier to make it go fast, you're usual response is something like "I'd rather make a Cavalier go fast becuase it's harder than making a V8 go fast" Well the way I look at it is, he's doing the same exact thing. Taking 2200, and making it fast becuase it's harder than making a 2.4 fast. Just my .02

I personally don' think motor swaps are for quitters at all. LOL. Far from it. If im gonna put thousands into my car and want to be fast, im gonna do it the most effective and efficient way possible and if that means putting in a bigger, better motor that can hold more boost, than so be it. In your case, swapping a motor would have been cheaper than the mods you put into your 2.2 so far.

You can get an full Ecotec motor and ecu from a junkyard for between $800-1000 with around 5000 miles on it and its a direct bolt in so very little modification is needed. As I said before its cool what you are doing to your car and what not, but for me, a swap would have been and will be the course of action.

Well if your going to spend the money to swap a 2.2 to a 2.4 why not just spend a little more and go with a V6? and make that faster. just my thought.

All you naysayers are a bunch of punks! This thread was made to show a vid of his car pulling an awesome time, not for you to debate on "what a waste of money dumping it into a 2200".

STFU!!

PJ, you know that is an awesome time and soon enough you will be able to get these guys really shut up when you put that turbo on

wow congratulations, you're the 30 millionth person on the planet to have a 13 second trans am... do you want a trophy or something?

alright maybe I worded it wrong... take the car, and MAKE IT FASTER/ BETTER

who cares what engine I choose? Your car runs 13 seconds stock? Ok... make it run 11s or 10s then I'll be impressed.

I hate people who think because their car is faster stock makes it better...

Its worth it to work for performance to beat smart mouthed people with cars that are supposedly "better"

and trust me, the car is far from done... this LN2 is going to be a twin cam bully

Screw the haters thats still impressive man. Keep it up.
I'll add my two cents in on this though. No matter how slow his little 2.2 ohv is, compared to stock he's dumped well over a second from stock form to what he has now. So all you people hating where are your mid 14 all motor timeslips since the bigger motors are so much more the way to go?

Way to go, man! I'm almost done with my 2200 build-up, so I should be running low to mid 14's with nitrous when its finished. Its all about being the underdog and proving to everyone that it can be done, and giving the occasional Trans-Am a run for its money
