8. Production/Sales Volume History
Normally a model year runs from October to September. Often though, when a new version is introduced it hits the market before October. Legally, a model year can start as early as January of the preceding year. Accurate model year sales counts are almost impossible to collect as different model year vehicles are regularly sold side-by-side for several months. Production figures, when listed, often include vehicles made for export to Canada, Mexico and overseas. Source: manufacturers/Ward's Automotive Yearbooks

Looking for a Job In Northeast Tennessee....
Those numbers look horribly suspect... How can you sell more than you produce? And 100% air conditioning in 2000? I've seen many 2000 model year cars without a/c. And those production numbers are waaaay off...
Going off the official numbers provided to me by GM... there were 3,599 Sunfires built by the Lansing 3 plant in the 2000 model year... now with the assumption that Lansing 3 ONLY made the convertibles.... and that all 2000 model year Sunfires that were convertibles, were also GT models... I'd say that's the number you're looking for: 3,599.

The v6z24.com site has .PDF scans from the Standard Catalog of Chevrolet under the History link (top of the home page) that give Cavalier production numbers. (This is where I got the numbers for the 3rd gen 'verts.)
