Hello all,
Well, it's been a while since I left the j-body scene when I sold my Cavalier last year and so much has happened in the past two years of my life. Some of you might not know me but for those who remember me... How are you guys anyway?
Im starting to miss modding a cav. I have a truck and a celica and I already modded both of em but for some reason it isnt the same. I've been surfing on autotrader.com and found a red cav with manual transmission and Im tempted to buy one and go back into the j-body scene and do some more modding. I guess what Im saying is... im asking for everyone's opinion about what I should do? I've been in the j-body scene for almost 7 to 8 years since 1997 when I got my 98 white cav. Some serious mods has been done to it... all bolt-ons.. nothing internally.
(Thanks to TEAM GREEN for the work they did with the charger on my car) Only this time, I can actually mod the cav the way i want it... the right way... the first time cuz I've been thru trial and error with my last one already and its been fun learning. So, is it worth the money? Should I do it? OR should I leave it as part of my past?
here are the pics of the Cav I used to own...
Dont get me wrong... its alright that I sold the White Cav... It was a great car for me and I had fun. Only the 2nd time around... I can really do what I want without wasting money and changing my mind all the time with a 2nd cav if I got it. Only thing I will regret is.. it wont be white. Thats the only regret I will have. Everything else I'll be fine with. So once again, let me know what you think... thoughts, opinions, comments?
no dont bother
its more of a money pit than a celica, has far less resale, and is not as good a platform
there are more important things than going back to a cav
there are newer better things out there, not just cars
just my .02
Assuming you can afford it now without sacrificing much, I'd go for it. Keep an eye on autotrader.com, carmax.com, etc, for a white one and take off from there.
If its going to hold you back from doing other more important things then yeah I'd cool it.

I say do it! There's just something about these little *%&$/ing cars that just keeps people into them once they start.
I've always told myself, when I get rich, I'll get a 550 Maranello, Vantage, F430, an SUV or two, AND a cavy! lmao!

I say do it! I miss the knowledge you always had around here. I used your step by step on how to put on the koni's for my last car...well actually I sold it before I put them on there...but after reading the how-to, I felt like I had done it! lol...Do it man, and welcome back!
do it why not, if its a fun car and you like modding it get another one.
I still say they are no where near as crappy cars as everyone says they are.
DO IT

it is my belief that modding any car isnt about how much the car will be worth for resale, or the car not being the best platform to mod on, and if you know what youre doing, its not gonna be a money pit. what modding is about is enjoying the challenge, and eventual product of your labour. no car should be judged on how much money it is worth, or what kinda platform it is, but by how much blood and sweat was put into it...
and yes, there are newer and better things out there, more than just cars, but u know what, im just speaking for myself here, but cars are the highest form of enjoyment in my life (outside of the girlfriend
), and whats life without enjoyment?
if you really did/do love it, and it still runs through your mind about how much of a good car it was, and how good of a car you know can make out of another one, than keep lookin for the perfect white cavalier for you, and when you find it, come on back.
good luck man
I remeber u Jason one of the founding members of the now defunked chicago Jbody club JFactor. I say go for it u know a lot about the cars already if u go with a 2.4 and its not about the resale value its about doing it because u have a passion for it i think if u do start up again you will be glad u did. I have no doubt it will be another great car once your done with it.
