If there is antifreeze in your oil .... can you taste it??
Reason behind:
A mechanic today told me that there was no antifreeze in my oil "because it didnt taste sweet"

tell him to drink a pint of it and you will beleive him.... I'm j/k I really dont know, I just thought I would be the first one to say that.
I guess it's possible that you could taste it in the oil but that doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. I've only heard of people looking oil to tell if it has been contaminated by coolant. If it has been it will be a white, milky color. You can sometimes also tell if coolant is leaking in the oil if it's getting more and more full, "making oil"
You can't outrun the radio.
I wouldn't taste it personally because it is a HazMat after it touches the inside of the engine but you can definately smeel and see a difference. I know I have tasted antifreeze before (little bit on the finger to help the senses some) and it has a very distinctive sweet taste kinda like sugar. It's something you would know immediately from any experience with antifreeze.
I'm sure if you were crazy/stupid and you tasted it you would be able to taste it though.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

That's the dumbest way to check for coolant. Because the orange coolant doesn't mix with oil.
Obviously you would loose coolant with out any puddles, so when you change your oil, you see if any coolant comes out also.
And who would taste oil. Only to ingest a product that kills you.
forgot earlier but you should have gotten that in writing

then gave a copy of it to the service manager and ask "WTF mate?" and to see if this guy was certified to sniff a snails ass too.
I am sure this
was common practice but I wouldn't trust his "taste test"
