Hello everyone,
My girlfriend is complaining of a strange rough sounding noise whenever she turns the wheel more than 15 degrees. She said that she first started noticing it when she made left turns, but is now hearing it when she turns right. She said that she currently hears it more from the left, but I figure that's because the drivers side is on the left.
What could this be? My guess is that it is a bad bearing. But could it be BOTH bearings?
- 1997 Pontiac Sunfire SE Convertible
- 104,000 miles
- 2.4 liter engine
- Stock tire size, and stock rims.
- Tires are inflated to spec and have been roted eveyr 6k since new.
- Changed both the left and right front brake rotors and bads about 2,000 miles ago
- Recently performed an oil change and greesed the zerks on the steering linkages.
THANKS VERY MUCH!!
this belongs in maintenance
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
Have you heard the noise? Could be a CV axle, but without hearing the noise hard to say.
FU Tuning
Possible bearing at the wheels. Just replaced all mine this past fall. 2 were going bad, so I replaced them all at once to be done with it. Mileage on them bad boys? 187K-ish. The rears were simple, fronts more involved but doable by a weekend wrencher.
