Cracked Dash Panel
Saturday, February 24, 2007 7:12 AM
Greetings all,

My wife's 01 LS sedan's dash panel cracked this winter. Its the 'filler' panel that goes between the dash and the windshield.

Anyone know if this panel is able to be replaced without taking the entire dashboard out?

Thanks

so far as i know, no. the piece you're talking about is an integral part of the entire dash. i.e. you take the dash cap off, and everything else (except the hvac/cluster bezel) is one piece.

It can be replaced, but the problem with the cavi's are that the trim piece that cracks is mounted to the firewall, along with a whole bunch of other interior. Including all the interior under the steering wheel, all the way over to the glove compartment. However, I think that I found a way to get around this with some modification. The trim piece in the Sunfires and removable, so I'm gonna take the cracked piece in my 99 cavi and cut it out with a Dremel tool and find a way to mount the Sunfire piece in there... I'm almost positive that they are the same piece.. hope this helps...

Thanks everyone. It really looks awful, but if its such a hassle maybe I'll see if I can get a piece of vinyl or something made up to cover it.

Gotta love ABS plastic and wild temperature fluctuations.

Thanks again!
