I need a new battery I figure. My currect ACDELCO from the factory (7-8 years old) I think is just not pushing out the cold cranking amps I need to start my car on cold mornings. It was -35 celcius this morning and the car wouldnt turn over without getting a boost.
I'm looking at changing it out for a Red Top today but I need to verify the model that fits our car. Is it the 34/78? I need a reply fairly soon as I might pick one up this afternoon. I need to make sure it fits in our battery tray with the Stock hold down.
I did a search but heard only one person mention the 34/78.
My car never had a problem starting in the cold. But maybe it's just to dammm cold, it should still turn over though. I dont know why it didnt. I'm runing synthetic which helps but ya when I turned the key it turned over for like a second then nothing.
It was -35 with a wind chill of -47 celcius this morning.
could get teh engine block heater. helps for cold start ups
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
most auto stores have the book.. you can look it up when you go to buy it.
I have a redtop, and I'm 90% sure its a 75/35
I do have a block heater. I'm going to get it checked this afternoon somewhere if I can. I had it plugged in all day at work yesterday and it barely still wanted to turn over. the car warmed up quickly but barely turned over. I think the battery is toast.
I looked at the 34/78 b/c it has the highest cold cranking amps. 800/1000
You lucky bastard! I only got 3 years out of the AC/D 6 year battery!

I picked up a Optima 75/35 Red Top from Walmart last night. Since the car was warm and the battery was warm there was no problem starting it right after installation. The real test was going to be if it would start the following morning.
I put in the key in it this morning and it errrr errrr errr'd a little then started. Then alot of Bang Bang Bangs (even with running Mobile1) then the idle smoothed out. But the start was a strong start. It was -35 celcius here this morning with a slight wind. The news said -42 celcius. And I dont have a plug in at my apartment.
