i have no idea but finding things in the pan is never a good sign.
Yea items in your oil pan is never good. Better pics would help us too
my camera fell in a bon fire.... so im stuck with my phone sorry.
its a thin cylinder thats hollowed out in the middle with like .5 mm walls
and its got a thinner orange part towards the top
the top is sharper than the other side so i think its only part of a whole.
my car is knocking so im guessin its part of the rods? maybe a wrist pin?

I cant think of anything in an engine that looks like that. Is it a magnet?
i think its too small for a wrist pin... my snowmobile wrist pins are bigger than that is
its magnetic but i dont really think its a magnet
it was magnatized to the oil pan plug

It sounds like a dowel.... of some sort.
I'm gonna guess that it's a valve guide.

LOL... How would it make it into the oil pan......?
(btw it cant unless the motor has huge holes in it.)

it definitely a dowel...maybe one used to line up the oil pan to the block?
looks kinda blurry but I think it looks like a valve lash adjuster

its a 2.4 so dohc. no rockers. no lash.

What about being part of the original dipstick tube? the original broke off, and they pushed it through installing the new one?

ohhh yea thats totally possible. id have to check but it seems a little bit thinner than the dipstick tube
anyone else got a clue
it seems too thin to be anything that would have to be under any force

only thing i can think of is an oil gally sleeve....that's all i got.
what is the orange thing? paint? an o-ring? metal ring?
bottom of an old dipstick tube.
they break off at the o-ring groove all the time
