My Speedometer gauge doesnt always work.

Sometimes it stays at 10mph when I'm doing about 50mph, sometimes the needle falls below where it should rest with the key off.

I have seen several sites offering repair for $100+, but I'm very mechancially inclined. Is there repair instructions online, on how to replace that stepper motor?

Also say if I got a new cluster, does GM has to program it with my mileage


- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new

i'd try the Vehicle Speed Sensor. but, if you get a new cluster, you just need to plug i in and it will work. mileage isn't stored in the cluster 00+.
