Alright, I had an alarm/remote start system installed on my car over a year ago and lately and during cold winters it starts to act up.
What it does is I'll turn the key to start the car and absolutely nothing happens aside from the lights in the gauge cluster come on. No cranking or anything. So I try it again and after 1 or 2 tries it starts up fine.
Then it got to the point where it would take longer and more tries. Then I eventually got pissed and punched on top of the dash/gauge cluster to the left, below the windshield and the car starts up...kinda funny and kinda cool at first but now it's not working as "efficiently" if thats what you wanna call it.
And last night after trying to remotely start the car I would get nothing at all again, then the theft light started to blink and the car would start for a second then immediatly die, applying gas didnt work. So I tried it again after like 5mins, the light wasn't blinking anymore and it started right up.
I'm assuming the audio place that installed the alarm/starter did a total @!#$ hack job and I'm getting a short somewhere. I just figured I'd ask you guys since banging on that area of the dash helped, if there was something under there I could look at. Idk, if anyone has an idea let me know.
take it back to the audio shop, it might be a bad bypass module causing the issue.

I doubt they'll work on it, they'll probly say it's not their fault since it doesn't start up correctly even with the key. I just had to bang on the dash a bunch of good times in order for it to start....this is gonna be a @!#$ long aggravating winter I can see it now.
If it's a faulty part on their end, and they back up their work like most shops do, they should atleast look at it and see. It's obviously causing a passlock issue. So I would look into getting them to take a look at it regardless lol.

i second passlock, or starter kill relay isnt opening/closing, not allowing the key to be connected to the starter. where did you take it? hopefully the soldered the connections instead of ghetto splicing aka t-taps...if its t-taps, wire probably broke

I had loose contact to starter motor and any vibration, even when taping a foot helped starter to crank. It will cost you nothing if you check the connections to starter motor.
