I have a serious misfire coming up for cyl #3.
1998 Sunfire 2200
I'm going to go to the scrapyard tomorrow in search for some replacement injectors.
Can someone tell me what kid of resistance I should read from a good injectro
OR
if you have a better way of checking injectors/harness please offer me some advice!
thanks!!
anyone??
I intend to go to the scrapyard on my luch break today (finally it's above freezing again!!) and had hoped ot have a clear understanding of what cars I should or shouldn't be looking to get injectors from...
welll just incase anyone in the future is looking for the same kind of info as I was, I think I've figured it out, and am posting it for future refrance;
2200 Injector interchange
1st design: 1995-1997.
2nd design: 1998-1999
3rd design: 2000-2002(?)
I personally observed all the pre-98 engines had a totally different intake/wire loom/fuel rail.
The intake and fuel rail appear to interchange for 98 and newer engines, bu the injector are distinctly differnt, and the wire loom was changed (differnt plugs incorporated) for the '00 model year.
Please keep in ind that GM liked to do 'running changes" for this whole time period (unlike in the past where changes were limited to the model year) - so you may find slightly different application info.
This means that if the chilton manual was infering that the 95-00 was low resistance (these types of service manuals are known to have errors) frim what I've seen, I seriously suspect that the low resistance injectors are actually 95-99, and the others are the 00 and newer.
First explain what is happening with the car?

changed injector...
seemed to fix the problem...
about 30% of the time the problem appears comes back...
I have not looked at plugs, or done anythign else to the car since I bought it - there was an obvious miss when I bought it, and one of the injectors was quite noisy... at this time I'm thinking that if my plugs are ok, then I might have carbon buid up (the car seems to drive better with every extra mile I put on it), or my problem might be a short in the loom somewhere...
since i have it running better, it's not a big deal ATM; I actually came online today to see if I could find what the original plug number was...
the seller totally lied to me on several things wit htis car, but with the really low buy in, I'm still laughing(!)
I need to change the valve cover gasket (it leaks; I cleaned the engine last weekend), I was thinking of changing the plugs at the same time...
You need to change your plugs and wires.
