Ok, so heres the issue. I am in the process of trying to get to replace a spun rod bearing. We have all of the tools and equipment we need to replace said bearing(s) however since I am going in from underneath the car instead of pulling the motor out we have run into obvious complications.
Most anything was solved within minutes with the exception of a bolt holding the Exhaust Manifold Bracket. Currently that is the only stopping myself from continuing the fix. A buddy of mine and myself took turns trying to muscle this single bolt out of place for a good 6 hours. We arent using any sort of power tool and as it stands now our brightest idea is to just saw the bracket itself out. I have read on a few forums that the bracket itself serves virtually no purpose other than to hinder our progression of this project it seems.
The car I am working on is a 97 Sunfire with the 2.4l DoHC engine.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated since I really dont want to start cutting and/or hacking away at things if there is an easier option. We do have a cherry picker on standby, but thats a last resort option right now.
What bolt and have you tried a good penetrating fluid on it yet?
