I posted this in my region but didnt get any hits maybe it will do better here.
Did a Quick search for this but couldn't find what I was looking for.
My coil pack has gone bad three times now, in less then 5 months. This last time it lasted a little over a week. luckily it is still under warranty so I can get it replaced for free.
My problem is this; what the hell is causing it? Has any one had this problem before? Any help is appreciated.
By the way I have an 03 cavalier with a dual cat-back exhaust, cold air intake, and the b and m shift kit for an automatic.
i had that problem with accell. they packs seemed to suck. stock ones worked fine... however, if it is stock ones that keep going, maybe something else is bad. check the plugs, wires, those may have a burnt spot of a cut or kink. also engine heat can screw em up too. im guessjng the ignition module could cause some issues too.check the cheaper deals first. or junk yard some parts and see if they work out. what engine do you have anyways?i know that 2.4 they used was crap for ignition. those ide covers had too many failures, ive changed out countless ones. coils, modules, and spark boots are crap in those.

That hasn't been my experience. I know there were problems with the Quad engines IDE covers early on, but all the 2.4 engines I've dealt with have been reliable. And, I haven't done anything dramatic other than carefully clean them when relacing plugs, grease the boots thoroughly and use sets of Gregs trick springs. Perhaps racers have other dynamics, but they've been reliable for me in general use. - Mark
