2000 cavalier, 2.2 5spd
so I came out of the mall yesterday and i noticed the check engine light on for the first time. (went into gear fine) then i pull up to a stop light and i go to put it into first gear and it wasn't working, I tried second same thing. After some swearing and a little pushing it finally went into first, then second was hard as well, so was third. Next light same thing, then the problem went away. (check engine light still on) I would love if anyone could help out. I searched forums and no one seems to have had the same problem?

thanks, m!ke

have you checked your tranny fluid?

how is your clutch?

have you gotten the codes read? if not i would get your butt to autozone and have them tell you what the light means.

im not in canada... but i would imagine most autoparts places SHOULD read it for free... or else they are just loosing business.

Got the code checked by a friend. Evap something or other, he said it was a code to do something with emissions? random. He said could be gas cap loose, so i tightened the gas cap, cleared the code and so far so good. As for the clutch; after further inspection I noticed that it could have been as simple as the floor matt getting caught up in between the clutch pedal. (fingers crossed)
