Hi everyone! I'm new here and I am ready to pull my hair out over this problem!!! I have a Sunbird 2.0 with 133K. It runs great if you "floor" it, but it sputters at idle and sputters when cruising at any steady speed. It had an MAP sensor code; I replaced that to no avail. I have since replaced plugs, wires, rotor and cap. When we had the car running, we looked into the throttle body and it seemed the spray of fuel was erratic and not a steady pulse. When the accelerator is held down a bit to simulate driving a steady speed, the spary from the injector will spray two or three times in a row, then pause before spraying once or twice and so on. It's between these sprays that the engine seems to die out a bit. Is it the injector itself or a sensor somewhere else? Shouldn't the injector spray a more steady stream?
