97z wont start on it's own

I think it's a problem with the theft system, but any help on how to fix it would be helpful =]

Just got the car back. It got a clean 98 malibu motor in it with 50k on it. (motor replaced because of rob bearing) and it runs great! Problem is the start position on the key doesn't work. To get the car to start you need to link the 2 terminals on the starter, (buddies used a wrench) and it will start the car for a few seconds, then the Theft system light starts blinking and shuts the car down. it actually starting and running is like a 1/10 chance. What can I do to fix this?

I dont mind "cob job" solutions either...

Woot found the problem! There's a set of 4 wires that go to a grey box on the driver side of the radiator support. the clip shorted out and wasn't distributing the power to the starter. =]

What is that box/relay called? lol

I believe it is the relay that GM put in...."recall"....to prevent people from overheating their ignitions because it "will" catch fire if you let the car crank and crank and crank.
