I have a 98 sunfire I just put a new engine in, has new everything on it, did my best to bleed the cooling system, but it seems to run kinda hot. I noticed the guage would go to the upper part of the " normal " range when I was sitting in heavy traffic, which seems odd, so I put my scan tool on it while driving home from work (I drive about 65 miles one way), and once I get into traffic, the engine will eventually go up to 225, then the fan kicks on till it gets to 215, then it kicks off. This seems kinda warm to me, but I dunno, is it normal? Once i get on the freeway doing 70-80mph it will stick around that same range. Im wondering if I dont still have air in the system, I remember I had an alero with a 3.4 that was a bastard to get the air out of, and it acted funny till it did. Any input would help. thanks
normal operating range while moving is the needle directly in the middle. if you're sitting, it's completely normal for the gauge to go up to almost the top.
