Replacing a lower control arm?

I was recently quoted at replacing control arm bushings for $370 from a dealership. I decided not to get it done at there because, well, $370 is extremely ridiculous.

My question is: How do I replace the lower control arms? I understand I have to jack up the car to get all the weight off the wheels, and remove the tires. At the very least I know I need a "pickle fork" and a torque wrench.

If I screw up this process is there any permanent/expensive damage I can do from removing them myself?

You want to change the bushing or the arm itself? One line you say the bushing and the other the arm?!?!?!?

You don't need a fork. You just need a hammer to pop the ball joint shaft out of the knuckle.
