I've never paid more than $20 for a replacement pump assembly from the wreckers... so...
I've yet to find a J with less than 100k miles in my local yards so it seems pointless to put in a pump that could go out any time...
Just to update this thread, I'd highly recommend this mod to anyone thinking they're having fuel pump problems...
A trip to Advance Auto and $55 later, I was back on the road. Then the car left me on the side of the road fifteen miles later. The clamp holding the fuel line to the pump had come loose but a foot of 5/16" fuel injection hose cut to fit solved that problem and I've been driving it for a few days now. I hate to use the word easy but the install really was just that. Here's some pics...
I got the Blazer pump installed before I remembered to take a comparison pic lol
Have you got the gas tank to lower than a 1/4 tank yet?
Did you have fuel cut issues?

I honestly don't know if my gauge is correct or not but I've had it down to an 1/8 of tank according to it. What do yall mean by fuel cut issues? I haven't really noticed any difference from the stock fuel pump.
Racetronix is the pump i am going to be using and the only pump i would consider.

I got to a little below an 1/8 of a tank today after 330 miles with no problems whatsoever.
