Okay. So today when I hit my sunroof button it began to retract and the plastic piece below the glass hooked on something and exploded into 100 pieces. The force was enough to blow my glass slides off track somehow. I closed the glass manually and was able to get everything straight again. The issue now is the track and "screw cable" guides are not correctly lined up. If I try to open the glass all the way, when it gets all the way back, it makes a terrible crack and grind noise. Its trying to push the glass back further then the tracks will allow. I've tried to mess with the gears and maybe "fool" the motor into fixing the problem for me but it's not going to happen. Does anyone have a lead on a drawing of the inner track/guide of this sunroof by chance? Or even if you know where to pull it apart to realign it just shoot me a message or post here. I've plowed through countless threads and the only fix people offer is tweaking the green piece with the switches but this is not the case here. Thanks to anybody who posts in advance.
Adam, your profile is empty so i don't even know what year and model your car is. I checked the (third gen) Haynes service manual PDF and didn't find any reference in the index or body chapter to the sunroof at all. My '99 OEM service manual has several pages on the sunroof, but the pictures are small and less than impressive, and the instructions are less than detailed. If you get nowhere, I can try and scan the pages for you unless someone else has a more relevant manual or better pictures.
Stop by a local GM dealer and go to the parts dept and ask them for a print out....keep in mind most dealerships catalogues have very very generic pictures. but that may help you....id give you one but i have no way of tranfering the picture to here since it is a work computer.
Cavalier z24......A poor man's Camaro....close enough, right?
