Hi all
I am hoping someone can give me some input on my tranny problems. It is a 1994 3.1 ltr. Tons of Ks (close to 300) The tranny is locking up in too high a gear when the car gets warm (about an hrs drive) It also would down shift radically at around 50-100 km when attempting to accelerate. The car has a tranny cooler and fluid/filterwas changed 2 years ago (as usual).
I just spent $400. bucks getting it through drive clean and I don`t want another big bill. If you guys have had some experience with these problems and can tell me the tranny`s pooched, I would appreciate it. I tend to be too optimistic and think it may be a simple adjustment/fluid change issue. ( I have another tranny for this car but I don`t think it is worth the effort to put it in)
thanks
If you still like driving the car. Still want to keep it, I would redone the tranny, Just depends if the funds are there to do it. For Me thats how i usually, Narrow my things out.
Good Luck on youre decision.
Thanks Rich
There is too many other things wrong with the car to warrant a rebuild tranny. (I already have a good tranny from another car) I would say even putting that one in would not be worth while. I`m hoping that an adjustment or a "part" replacement will keep the car on the road. I don`t have much experience with working on auto transmissions so I`m hoping some of these ailments sound familiar to you guys out there and what was the culprit.
I have four vehicles so I would rather not throw good money after bad. (still pissed I just spent 400 bills on drive clean...that was for a few tests ,pre and post and discovering the new Magaflow cat I just put on was defective out of the box, and having to have the garage replace it with a walker....apparently work you do to your own car does count toward a condition pass...oh well)
