Any one have any idea why a CEL would come on during a highway drive at about 80km/h in fourth gear? Temp gauge was still normal, checked my oil and it's fine, coolant is fine. Everything feels and sounds completely normal and yet the light is still on...
I'm planning on going to get it scanned, but won't be able to for a while, yet I need to do some more driving around. So just looking for some random guesses atm. Thanks.
So GM said the scan came back as "having something to do with the catalytic converter." I have an appointment on Tuesday for them to do their tests.
I don't suppose having a really dirty air filter would cause a code to come up having to do with the cat would it? The cat is a magnaflow "hi flow" and it's only a few years old now. Shouldn't be going bad already should it?
It could be either a rear 02 going bad or the CAT is going bad..
Ive also got a magnaflow high flow cat for about a year now and yeah im having some issues to..
CEL is almost always emissions related though.
but with the magnaflow cats i have a theory that bad gas makes them throw codes.

I hate to break it to ya..but a lot of people on this site aren't in the wealthy bracket. If we were, we prolly wouldn't have j-bodies
