So I just noticed this all started happening a couple weeks ago. It seemed to start happening after I tried to do the 2.3 TB swap, but my car had always sounded a little funny when I stomped on the gas with the AC on. Heres whats happening...
At stops in park or red lights or what not, my compressor will kick on, then shut off, and repeat, and when I pop the hood, the fan won't even be running sometimes, and I notice my car is past is operating temp, but it seems to only do this after sitting outside in the sun for awhile and then turning the car on and sitting there with the AC on.
When driving it works fine, no problems at all, but the compressor seems to sound loud or funny or what not at about 3,000 rpms. I'm not sure what our cars should sound like normally, but I think it may be abnormally loud.
I went by Autozone the other day and I told them what was going on, they thought it was freeon low, so we checked and it was low, I bought the smallest can, since it wasn't that low and we topped it off, it was great, and so cold for about a week or so, and I didn't notice it really doing it anymore, but I didn't test it real thoroughly.
So is the compressor going bad? Or is it a relay?
Thanks
I also think it is still as cold as it was once we topped the free on off.
Whenever the a/c is on, the fan is on. If the fan doesn't turn on and you're not moving, you can start to overheat the compressor, which it then turns off as a safety.
Check to see if your radiator fan is working. Whenever you switch the a/c on, it should kick on, regardless if it's actually blowing cold or not. If not, then the first thing you should do is check the fan relay in the engine compartment. Those are notorious for going out. This is also a reason why you're overheating. Swap with the fuel pump relay and see if you can get the fan to turn on with the a/c button on (without cranking the car).

My fan doesn't turn on when the A/C is on, I tried what you said, I put the fuel pump relay on the cooling fan without the car on, the fan still didn't move. I took a video of what it's doing.
So the a/c clutch is engaging and disengaging? Next thing to check is if your fan is done for. Disconnect it from the plug and try to wire it straight to the battery and see if it spins.

towards the bottom of the fan..the one hard to reach? how do you get it out if so?
i appreciate the help
I tried the heater/blower relay on the cooling fan spot, no luck, I can't get the fan to respond, it spins smoothly when I move it by hand.
What else can I do, go to autozone and try a new one and see if thats it?
Yea, pull it out and test it. And if no spin, then hit up autozone.

find out what it was, took it out to get some gas and stop by autozone.
I stopped at a parking lot a minute from home and it was running, and i wiggled the wire and it stopped, I can only guess this happened from when I had a broken upper once, and then a broken lower, and the wire has no slack, its working fine now, and when it cools off I'm going to open up the wire loom that is restricting it from having any flex from the motor moving.
hopefully, that wire won't move after I get it some slack, I don't think its a bad short, idk, I'm just going to keep an eye on it, oh and with my car off and A/C on with ignition and radio and all, the fan doesn't move, only when the car is on.
How should I go about fixing this, it keeps cutting on and off, sometimes the fan will work, sometimes not. Should I replace the end from the wire to the fan plug with one from a junk yard?
If that's where the break in the wire is... yes, repair or replace it.
FYI, your car should have R134a in it, which is a refrigerant but NOT freon.
yes it does have R134a, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
I think it moves most when I start the car, im going to try and find a new plug and wire and a junkyard.
this is a bitch to deal with.
