Replacing a Fuel Pressure Regulator

I think I need to replace the fuel pressure regulator on my '01 Z24 (2.4L). The instructions on the Autozone repair guide call for removing the fuel rail. I was wondering if this is necessary or if it can be pulled without removing the fuel rail. Also has anyone else replced the fpr on the 2.4L and can give me help /advice on this. Thanks.

pull the vacuum line off the top while its runnin. if gas comes out its bad. i replaced mine a long time ago and tried to take it off without pulling the rail and its was a pain in the ass. i ended up pulling the rail. i say clean around injectors as best as you can and pull the rail. get some new o-rings if the ones on injectors are burnt.

No, don't need to pull fuel rail. I only needed an allen wrench and patience. I changed mine in my 00 Z24 last year.
