After 6 years and 109K miles with nothing other than oil changes, front brakes and tires, the car finally died last night. Coming off an offramp I tried to accelerate and nothing....downshifted...nothing....sputtered then died. Tried to restart...sputtered and died again.
Fuel pump? Coils? Ideas? Going to have it towed to the dealer on Friday.
Oh, it's a 2003 Cavalier LS with a 5spd.
Sounds familiar... First I would check to see if it is the fuel pump. Turn the ignition on and see if you can hear kick on, That is what mine did when mine went out, was at a stop sign went to pull out, started going, then dead...tried to start...sputter...dead. Its a simple fix-it-yourself if it is the fuel pump. Get the part from auto zone or advanced, jack back end up, drop the gas tank and change it out. took me and my brother about an hour i think to do mine, and that was taking our time.
Well I'm just going to have the dealer take care of it. I could do it but I just don't have time. Plus I need the horn fixed as well.
check the fuse for the horn....and if it's the fuel pump it's really not that hard, unless you have cash to blow.
Rememeber kids... spell check is your friend
Fuse for the horn isn't the problem. Half the time it blows, other half it doesn't. I don't have time or patience to deal with this fuel pump....if it is the fuel pump.
fuel pump!

check the fuse for the fuel pump for @!#$s and giggles.
Fuse for the pump in the dash or under the hood?
Under the hood. And it really seems like its the fuel pump. Same thing happened to mine.
Fuel filter. whens the last time u changed it?
"big boom big boom"-Adam Savage. "quack damn you"-Jamie Hyneman "mythbusters"
Fuse for my fuel pump is in the interior fuse panel.
Relay is under the hood, fuse is in the fuse box. Can't really "ChECK" the relay but the fuse looked ok. Definatly no fuel at the rail schrader valve.
Was a dead fuel pump. Fixed, back to running like a champ.
