Bought an automatic 2000 cavalier ls in June, had 90km on it. Haven't had any real problems with it (other than replacing the catalatic converter) but for the past five weeks, and only on Saturday's - the car won't start.
It will start after being plugged into a battery charger for like an hour, but this is just strange. The stock stereo was replaced a couple weeks before this started happening (it's on the same line as the power mirrors, disconnected the door chimes to bypass having to spend like $200 for the real wire connector thing).. but I don't think the two are connected.
I'm really not sure what the problem is, I doubt it's the battery discharging (car is driven 200-400 km/week).. and I don't think it could be cold weather issues, because cold weather is all around and not just on Saturdays.
Maybe some computer issue or something? Really would like some suggetions as to what it could be to try to narrow it down, before I take it to a mechanic and spend a ton of $
Thanks
Forgot to also mention, when the car was purchased, the odometer is messed up, displays weird numbers (but if the plastic infront of the dash is pressed on, it shows the real numbers) but that seems to be a semi-common problem with cav's
Saturday is your car's day off. Every car has one.
Seriously though that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.
2010 Honda Fit LX
is there a particularily long period of time wihtout driving it between friday and saturday? if theres a problem wiht the charging system that might give it a longer period to drain the battery, to the point where it wont start
Nope. The car is driven anywhere from 50km-100km per day.. the time between friday and saturday when the car is used, is not much different than any other day of the week
what religion does your car practice?
The dyslexic one.. seriously though, nobody has any idea? something messed up in the cars computer? alternator? etc.?
try taking the car to someplace like autozone and have the battery and alternator tested. doesn't cost anything, and it just might point to a problem with the charging system or a ghost drain on the battery.
