Low beams very dim, high beams seem ok
Tuesday, December 29, 2009 12:54 PM
I just added a new wiring harness. I had it working great for a while, then i got new bulbs. I cut down the wires so I wouldn't have a lot of free wires going everywhere and their about 3-4 inches long going from the headlight housing to the socket. Now my low beams are very dim and my high beams work good still. The headlights were working fine before I cut them down. I attached them just like I did before so that isn't the problem. Would cutting the wires too short, cause the low beams to be very dim and have the high beam light always stay on in the instrument panel? Car is a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier with a 9007 headlight socket...

I've checked the fuses, connections to battery, connections to the bulb, everything is fine.

well it's not the bulbs ive ruled that out. i put my stocks back in and its doing the same exact thing. the bulbs i got were eurolite and another brand which look identical to HID's on the high beams i love them. but the eurolites and my stocks worked just fine before so that is why im having a hard time figuring it out. ive looked everywhere on the net and most of them having similar problems are due to the ground being off or the lo/hi beam relay switch. the ground is just fine so that is not the problem. the only other thing i can think of is the relay switch, but i dont know what that is or where its located. they say to take it to an electrician but i really dont have money for that. its not my battery because its brand new and its not my alternator (which a lot of posts said it was an alternator also) because everything else lights up just fine. someones gotta know the answer to this. the low beams are very dim and the high beams work just fine. the positioning of the bulb is in the exact center so that isnt the problem. PLEASE HELP ASAP!

you didn't take anything off besides cutting a little off the wires?

do you have a voltage meter?

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
