My girlfriend had trouble with her cavalier starting. It's a 2000 sedan with the 2200 OHV. I haven't actually looked at it yet so I don't know everything. I'm told it turns over fine but just will not start. Her and her dad had it towed and the scanner gave them two codes. One for the crank sensor, and one for the cam sensor. I find it hard to believe that both went bad at the same time. I wonder if the timing chain didn't blow off and throw everything out of whack. I asked them if it turns over real easy (no compression due to cam not turning) but they didn't understand. They changed the crank sensor and I'm giving them a cam sensor I had laying around today. If that doesn't get it at least running, we'll know something else is going on. Any knowledge would be great. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure if the timing chain blew off the engine would be done, not sure if ohvs are the same i know on the 2.4's and the ecos if the timing chain goes most of the time so does the engine. Unless you don't crank it over the second it snaps, then you might be able to salvage the motor.
I'm not sure but I don't think these are interference motors like other high compression motors are. The way they claim it turns over I cant imagine anything it THAT bad. In any case, thanks for the post.
