Whats this called. its rusted bad and needs to be replaced. At-least Now i know where the coolant is leaking. Through the rust holes on this pipe. White smoke comes out of a couple holes on this pipe and through my closed hood. Not allot of smoke just small amounts periodically.
Can I temporally use exhaust repair kit and rap it up. If not any suggested temp repair. I need to let this wait for a week.
This pipe doesn't look to difficult to change. Am I right or is there something tricky to it.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
cant help you with the name... but i do know its not hard to change...
Thanks, anything specific I need to know when putting the new one on? (once I know what its called)
I'm just curious, on the left side of the motor where it curls around underneath a mount and connects to the engine.... does something have to be moved/loosened or will the pipe snake right out of there after it's disconnected? Any one know where where I can get this pipe other than from gm and how much it is.
I'm going to attempt this one my own so would appreciate any tips.
Drop coolant, remove hoses, take belt off, disconnect battery, remove alternator, take clip off wire loom push loom out of way, take bolt /nut out by wire loom on top, remove one nut out of the side coolant pipe.Push pipe toward pass side to remove from stud/hole in head than snake it out.GM part numbers PIPE 12564068 , SEAL 24575483 Package of 10 count.I dont know why you have to buy ten seals. www.gmpartsdirect.com or www.rockauto.com .
can I temporarly use a muffler patch kit to past the 2 cracks on this metal coolant pipe. Just to stop the smoke and dripping.
hell, as a temporary fix, take it out all together, and put a chunk of 5/8 heater hose in it's place. just tie it off to make sure it doesnt come in contact with the exhaust manifold. if i remember correctly ,the only place i could locate one of those was from the gm dealer, and it was on the order of $120. found one at a wrecker, that looked brand new, so i snagged it up.
