The front side marker bulb of my 1988 Sunbird sedan has burnt out and I haven't figured out how to access it yet to replace. Online searches have yielded negative results and I've also referenced the Chilton's repair manual but this subject is only mentioned in general without specific instructions for the various incarnations of side markers that the 1982-94 edition of the book covers. The only definite information I have is that the marker is labeled "4 GM 2J" and uses a #194 bulb. As per the picture there are no obvious screws on the outside to remove and I didn't want to start prying away at it for fear of breakage. Does anyone here know how to crack this nut? :-)
You should be able to go from behind and the socket just twists out.
You need to remove the wheel well shield if that is on the side on fender just a few bolts and pull it back, if it is on the front bumper, you should be able to drop the radiator splash shield, and get up in there.
Dont pry on it, it will break

That's exactly correct. You do have to remove several screws and or plugs to pull the plastic inner fender weld splash guards.Takes a few minutes and the sockets are def twist and turn to pull outward.Mine are the same on my 85 cav.Note the for reference the rear side markers are accessable thru the trunk, just pull the carpet or spare tire cover up to get to those in the future.
Thanks for the info guys... I'll give it a go!
