runs better on lower gap?

my car seems to be running better on a lower gap than stock. i took out my plugs to check the gap, and adjusted them to .06 inches, the stock standard, when i turned the car over, it seemed a little rough, i lowered it back down to .05 inches, what it was before, and it runs much smoother. is this because of a power leak somewhere? im think maybe the coils or the plug wires. the plugs are almost brand new. but they just dont seem to be getting enough power to arc properly at the standard gap.

depending where im reading it.. or by what plug im looking at... its .05-.06... i see both numbers quite a bit... maybe it depends on the plug??
