2 weeks ago i was in accident with my car, ( Hit and run to make it worse.) Since then I have gone to my bodyshop, and had them start the work, it has been there 8 days and they have pulled the frame started to paint the parts ( front clip, both fenders and new hood. they call me up today, and ask if there's a "trick to get my car started" well i drove it to them, they drove it into the bodyshop, and have been driving it from area of the shop and so on, and now they are saying it's the Timing chain, may not be worth fixing? what's the deal, i just had a new Cat back system installed, ball joints, ect done to the car recently. anyone opinion think that it could have been caused by the accident, or know of such a situation, or am i totally screwed? I literally just paid it off 3 weeks ago, haven't even got the title in my hands yet. any words from other JBody owners would be appreciated..
I would make sure that all of the fuses and relays are still in working order, and also that there is no damage to the wiring harness. Maybe it's possible the fuel pump relay or wiring was damaged in the accident?
Have you been to the shop and seen whats its doing why it isnt starting?. Could be a ground wire not hooked up properly. They took it apart they have to fix it. Thats weird usually autobody shops have on duty mechanics there. they do the mechanical, And the autobody techs do the body work. Could be the theft system could be on, I would get them to check all the wiring and relays, Etc.
Good Luck.
Hi guys, thanks for the response. Approximately 2 months ago i had the fuel pump replaced, and lines, and a full tune up, plugs, coils ect... so i really am not sure. I have talked to a few people and seems as though the body shop most likely is liable for the repairs. the body shop does have a mechanic on, and he obviously doesn't think this is "accident" related. i tell you what, it's a 2004 cavy, with a little over 105,xxx miles on it, from what I've been reading it seems like this is a known problem within that age range, but i still hope the shop has to pay for it... i don't have the extra $ to throw out, and if they total it, not sure how my credit is today to go out and drop it on a new car
ok i have dumb question are you sure its not the anti theft kicked in? i've seen that happen before at body shops.
also how bad was it hit?
hey thanks for the comment, i don't have any ant theft at all, i don't even have power windows.. the initial hit wasn't that bad, but i hit the cement barrier at about 50 MPH. Right now it's coming down to alstate who isn't paying for @!#$
