high beam headlight problem
Monday, March 01, 2010 9:55 AM
i have a 1998 sunfire, no fog lights installed, DRL's have been disabled like the thread on here shows and that has been done almost a year ago. here's my problem, a few days ago i was coming home from work at night and when i switched on the high beams the pass side didn't come on, drivers side works, low beams work for both sides. i though the light burned out so i bought 2 new ones, installed them and still no pass side high beam (low works). got to looking at the wires and found the orange wire had broke almost into at the plug so i fixed that, still no high, looked some more and haven't found anything else. i have power going to all 3 wires (pink, orange, blue) when i switch on high on the pass side, the drivers side i only have the 2 blue with power when the high is on. any ideas where to look ??? i think the pink is suppose to ground out for the high beams but i am lost as to where to look.
thanks

the problem is fixed, here's what i found in case it'll help anyone else with this same problem. i started taking the wireing harness apart and checking the pink wires for any breaks, i found where the 2 pink wires connect together with a factory connection thats was below the dirvers side headlight, well the pass side wire had corroded apart and the divers side was close to doing the same. i cut out all the corroded wire and spliced in a new piece and connected the pinks all together and soldered & sealed em up and they work like new. cheap fix but it took some time tracking it down.
